- All students and staff of the school are members of the library.
- The library will function from 07:30 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. on normal working days.
- Strict discipline and silence are to be observed in the Library.
- All members are requested to enter the name, class and Accession number of the books used/read in the library in the reference Register before leaving the library.
- Issued books should not be brought inside the library (Unless for return/renewal),
- Personal books or any printed material (spiral/bound book/photocopied material) should not be brought inside the Library.
- Personal belongings like bags (shoulder, sling), umbrellas, etc. are not allowed inside the Library.
- Pupils are expected to behave in a responsible manner in the library. Any one guilty of disobedience to the librarian or of disorderly conduct renders herself/himself liable to suspension from the use of library.
- Issued books must be entered in the library issue register and computer before they are taken from the library
- Books will be issued to the students during the library periods. No book will be issued or returned during the teaching hours.
- Books are issued for the use of borrower only. Hence she/he may not exchange them with anyone else.
- Books must be examined by the borrower before leaving the library and damages must be brought to the notice of the librarian. The borrower will be held responsible for the damages while the books are in her/his charge.
- Newly purchased books will not be issued to any user for at least one week. It will be displayed separately as new arrivals.
- Marking, underlining, writing, tearing paper on library books, periodicals, and newspapers is strictly forbidden.
- If the books are not returned within the specified time, it will be viewed seriously and fine will be imposed as per rules.
- Overdue charges will be calculated till the date the books are returned.
- The Librarian may call for a book at any time, even if the normal period of loan has not expired.
- In case if a book is misused, wrongly handled or lost, the person concerned will have to replace the book or pay the current market price of the book.
- After reading, make sure that the books, periodicals and newspapers are kept back at their respective places.
- The members should take good care of library furnishings and equipment. Make sure that the library looks as good when you leave as it did when you came in.
Library Periods
Every class from VI-XII is allotted two library periods per week. The students can use the library to read newspapers and magazines; consult reference books etc. besides the students may utilize the library during their free time provided no other class is having a library period at that time.
Issue/ Return of Books
- Each student would be issued 2 books at a time for a period of 30 days and can have a maximum of 5 books.
- Staff members can have a maximum of 15 books for a period of 180 days.
- Failure to return books on Due-date would compulsorily lead to penalty as per NVS Rules.
- Reissue of books by a user may be allowed maximum twice after the first issue.
- Renewal of loan is possible if there is no reservation for the document by other members. Books and journals should be physically presented for the renewal
- Library Books can be issued and returned during Library Period of the class only and not in any teaching period.
- Library books are to be deposited at least 15 days before summer vacation.
Reservation Facility
- The members can reserve a book which is issued.
- The reserved books will be issued on priority basis.
- The reserved book will neither be reissued nor renewed to the same member.
- The member who has reserved the book will be informed of the arrival of the book and if he / she fails to collect it within 1 day, he /she will forfeit his / her claim on the book. But he / she may reserve the same book again.
Reference Books
Reference books like encyclopedias and dictionaries will not be issued. These can be consulted in the library during the library periods. However, for the purpose of project work and special assignments the students may get these books issued on request from the teacher concerned.
Magazines/Periodicals
Current periodicals will not be issued to any member. These can be consulted only in the library. However the old issues of magazines and periodicals can be issued.
Note: These rules are subject to revision/ updation from time to time without assigning any reason.
